DOKRA

Dokra - A traditional art form - the lost wax technique practiced by the tribals of Bastar, a village in Chattisgarh, India. Learning to understand the process with application and the intricacies involved in each process in order to get a finished product. Spreading awareness of Dokra art in my community for them to see feel and touch.

Dokra Camp (2018)

5th Dokra Camp (2018) - "CHAKRA", a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, it defines wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras starting from the bottom of the spine to the crown of the head. There is an invisible gyrating wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet known as Prana, an essential life force, keeping us vibrant, healthy and alive. Each Chakra wall sculpture is represented by symbol of planets at the core, surrounded by elements of nature in shapes and characteristics are depicted using forms.
